An allegation of sexual assault has been made against two children at the private school attended by William and Kate’s three children.

The two students at Lambrook School in Berkshire are alleged to have molested another child during a school trip, the Mail on Sunday has reported.

Investigations into the claims have been launched by the school and the police, after the alleged victim’s parents complained about the school’s handling of the incident.

Pupils at Lambrook were on a school trip when the alleged sexual assault took place, according to the newspaper.

Another pupil is believed to have told their parents a while later, who then informed teachers at the £30,000-a-year school.

A senior teacher then phoned the alleged victim’s parents, who then held a meeting with the school’s headteacher Jonathan Perry the next day.

The following morning the child provided more details about what is said to have happened, before a second meeting with the headteacher and the school’s head of pastoral care took place.

It is claimed the parents then complained that the two alleged perpetrators had apparently not been spoken to, and that neither social services nor the police were involved.

The police was then called after the meeting, it is understood. Officers are also believed to have spoken to the child.

A police spokesman confirmed it ‘is investigating an allegation of sexual assault by touching following a report of a child safeguarding matter which was received from a school in Berkshire’.

The parents are reportedly furious at how the school have handled the allegations.

A friend of the couple told the Mail on Sunday: ‘What has happened is outrageous, unacceptable and disgusting.

‘School was the child’s happy place and the parents just want everybody to be held accountable.’

Anger is understood to lie with the headteacher’s refusal to suspend the two alleged perpetrators.

Instead a risk assessmenthas been drafted with measures to separate the pupils.

Mr Perry is believed to have tried to reassure all three parents that Lambrook can safely educate all three children.

However the alleged victim’s parents refused to sign the risk assessment, it is understood, believing it is ‘completely inadequate’.

They have reportedly demanded the suspension of Lambrook’s head and are also looking for an alternative school.

It is said they are considering suing Lambrook for negligence and safeguarding failures.

The school’s chair of the governors Patrick Burrowes has ordered an independent investigation into the school’s response to the allegations.

A school spokesperson said in a statement: ‘The authorities are investigating an alleged incident between pupils who attend Lambrook School.

‘It would not be appropriate to comment in any detail, but we are doing everything possible to support the pupils during this process and are working carefully with the relevant authorities.

‘We take the safety, security and wellbeing of all of our pupils extremely seriously and we followed robust and effective policies and procedures whilst carefully respecting due process.’
