Celebrity first pitches have long been a tradition for the Dodgers, with the team inviting stars from music, film and sports to open the game by tossing the ball to home plate.

Just like other K-pop idols, BTS member V has been announced to throw the ceremonial first pitch on Monday, Aug. 25, before the Dodgers face off against the Cincinnati Reds. This means, the Los Angeles Dodgers are gearing up for a special night at Chavez Ravine.

The news immediately sent fans scrambling to secure seats for the game, turning what would normally be a mid-season matchup into one of the hottest tickets in Major League Baseball.

Ticketing platform StubHub reported that demand for the Aug. 25 game skyrocketed, with sales climbing nearly five times higher within just a few hours of the announcement. The overwhelming rush of fans even caused temporary slowdowns on the site, underscoring V’s influence well beyond the music scene.

“Dodgers ticket sales jumped 5× overnight on StubHub after V from BTS was announced to throw the first pitch on August 25th, making the Dodgers the #1 most searched MLB team this week,” the company stated.

Just two days after V, soccer icon Son Heung Min will take on the same honor, marking back-to-back appearances by two of South Korea’s biggest global figures.

A recent sighting of BTS in Los Angeles has ignited speculation about new music and a possible collaboration with American singer Charlie Puth. The chatter gained momentum when J-Hope surprised fans by dropping a casual Instagram update captioned, “I’m out LA,” which instantly sent ARMY into a frenzy.

Adding fuel to the excitement, clips surfaced showing Charlie Puth fiddling with a fidget toy as Jungkook laughed nearby, giving fans more reason to speculate on a joint project.
