Bretman Rock names Vanessa Hudgens as his worst celebrity run-in

Filipino American content creator Bretman Rock opened up about his most disappointing celebrity encounter, one with fellow Fil-Am personality Vanessa Hudgens.

The revelation came during an episode of the Sweet or Savory Podcast, hosted by US-based Fil-Am couple AJ Rafael and Alyssa Navarro. When Bretman was asked a seemingly lighthearted question about his worst celebrity interaction, he didn’t hesitate. His answer was blunt: “VH.”

Coachella encounter

Pressed to elaborate, Bretman made his stance clear, saying, “I don’t like her.” The influencer then took listeners back to a moment that occurred several years ago, around 2017 or 2018, during the buildup to Coachella. According to Bretman, the encounter happened at the Sugar Bear Hair house, where invited guests were required to pick up their festival tickets.

Bretman explained that the High School Musical alum was present at the time and was engaged in conversation with the CEO of Sugar Bear Hair, someone Bretman already knew beforehand. 

Bretman said he attempted to get the CEO’s attention, stressing that his intention was never to greet Hudgens. However, he claimed that the actress noticed him and reacted in a way that made him uncomfortable.

He recounted feeling puzzled by her reaction of trying to hide her face, emphasizing that he was not trying to approach her at all. At one point in the story, Bretman recalled thinking, “First of all, I’m not saying hi to you.”

His frustration escalated as he described how the situation made him feel minimized and judged, despite both of them being invited guests at the same event.

In one of the most pointed moments of the podcast, Bretman asserted his own worth and identity, saying, “You’re not above me. I’m not under you. I’m Filipino, b*tch.”

He further questioned what he perceived as a lack of warmth, particularly between people who share Filipino roots, adding, “Like, you can’t even like your own people?”

The unfiltered story quickly gained traction online.
