Young Filipino students are proving their excellence on the international stage, bringing home awards from prestigious academic competitions held in the United States.
At the Horizon Olympiad Global Round in New York, siblings Purple Faith Aquino and Citrine Neo Aquino emerged as standout performers. Each claimed the highest honors in their respective divisions.
Purple Faith Aquino was the Top 1 Ultimate Winner and Gold Medalist in Category 1, while Citrine Neo Aquino was the Top 1 Ultimate Winner and Gold Medalist in Category 2.
The competition, which also offered scholarship opportunities at a university in Brooklyn, is designed to challenge students beyond routine classroom learning. Open to participants from Grades 3 to 12, the Horizon Math Olympiad focuses on mathematical reasoning, critical thinking and real-world problem-solving.
Meanwhile, another young Filipino scholar made headlines in the field of science. Nine-year-old Warren Wade Casuga, a Grade 4 student from Holy Infant Academy in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, topped the Copernicus Olympiad Global Round in the Natural Science category.

Casuga emerged as the Absolute Winner and ranked first overall, outperforming participants from 16 countries, including the United States, Brazil, Vietnam, China, Turkey, Indonesia and Romania. His victory marked the first time the Philippines secured the highest honor in this category.
In addition to a gold medal, Casuga won the competition’s grand prize, a brand-new iPad.
