Filipino American internet personality Bretman Rock has embraced his roots through a heartfelt kitchen moment with his mother, centered around a beloved Filipino vegetable dish.
In his latest Instagram post, the global influencer shared a glimpse of their bonding session as they prepared pinakbet, a classic Ilocano dish known for its mix of vegetables and bold, savory flavors.
“My mom and I made Pinakbet the other day. I didn’t appreciate Pinakbet enough when I was younger bc now I be craving it every week. Don’t mind her crooked glasses she was choppin like no tomorrow,” he captioned his Instagram post.

The post showed Bretman and his mom shopping for fresh vegetables before heading into the kitchen. As they prepared the ingredients together, Bretman shared, “My mom is teaching me how to make pinakbet today.”
Born in Cagayan before moving to Hawaii at a young age, Bretman has often spoken about his Filipino upbringing and how it continues to shape his identity. This recent post adds another layer to that narrative.
