Filipino pride rang loud in Los Angeles as Filipino singer Mark Mabasa stepped into the spotlight as the country’s sole representative at the “ASEAN Rhythms: A Cultural Celebration” held at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) on April 25.
The former X Factor Philippines finalist shared the milestone through a social media post. Reflecting on the opportunity, he wrote, “I’m truly honored to share that I’ll be guesting as the only Filipino representative at the ‘Rhythms of the ASEAN’ event—selected by the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles.”

He recalled these milestones in his post, sharing, “From my journey as an X Factor finalist to performing at ‘David Foster and Friends’ and being mentored by David Foster, I’ve been blessed to share the stage with incredible artists like Natalie Cole, Boyz II Men, Air Supply, Earth, Wind & Fire, and James Ingram.”
These experiences, he noted, have prepared him for moments like ASEAN Rhythms, where artists from across Southeast Asia come together to celebrate their cultures through music and performance.
Adding a distinct Filipino touch to the night, Mabasa also revealed that his stage look would highlight local fashion excellence. “I’m also excited to share that I’ll be wearing a creation by renowned Filipino designer Puey Quiñones @pueyquinones for this special occasion,” he shared.
Now based in the United States, Mabasa continues to expand his reach while staying rooted in his heritage.
“Now, as I continue showcasing my talent here in the US, I’m proud to carry the Filipino voice on an international stage,” he added, an affirmation of his role as both artist and cultural ambassador.
