The National Museum of the Philippines and San Francisco’s The Hinabi Project are teaming up to promote Philippine textiles and greater awareness of the country’s history and culture.

The Hinabi Project (THP) is a trans-Pacific organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation and practice of the Philippine weaving arts in natural fiber. The group holds exhibits and other events to support and expand the weaving communities.
National Museum Director-General Jeremy Barns discussed his plans to strengthen ties between Filipino artists and US museums, along with upcoming projects promoting Filipino culture.
Joining him were National Museum of Anthropology Director Marrianne F. Ubalde and Danette Jennifer R. Megalbio, senior museum researcher under the museum’s Ethnology Division, who met with representatives from The Hinabi Project.
