LOS ANGELES – Filipino American comedian Jo Koy threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Filipino Heritage Night at the Dodger Stadium in LA on Monday.
The event featured cultural performances, Filipino food, karaoke and a special jersey giveaway.
The festivities showcased the Manila Sound DJ collective, which celebrated Original Pilipino Music, and other Filipino American artists. Live karaoke followed, along with performances from the multi-generational Philippine folk arts and dance organization Kayamanan ng Lahi and the cover band CRUX RiSing.
Actress Liza Lapira performed the national anthem, while Jo Koy threw out the first pitch to Tommy Edman, delighting fans with his trademark phrase, “It’s time for Dodger baseball!”

Fans who secured the special ticket package received a unique jersey commemorating the occasion.

The array of Filipino culinary delights included ube bread pudding, chicken lumpia with chicharon, longanisa and chicken adobo nachos.
The Dodgers faced off against the Tampa Bay Rays, kicking off a three-game series that ESPN insider Jeff Passan dubbed the “must-watch” series of the month.
