After years of building a loyal fanbase online and across international stages, Filipino Canadian artist Mico is finally stepping into a new era with the announcement of his debut album, “When the lights turn on,” arriving on June 26.
The rising singer-songwriter, known for emotionally charged tracks like “Senses” and “Homesick” from his award-winning EP “Internet hometown hero,” shared the news through Instagram alongside an album cover that features him sitting on a rooftop at night while fireworks illuminate the sky in front of him.

Alongside the announcement, fans also discovered that vinyl and CD versions of the album are now available for purchase.
In his post, Mico reflected on the deeply personal journey behind the project.
“My debut album, ‘When the lights turn on’, comes out on june 26. ‘Like you mean it’ song + video out now. This album is a direct result of the last 7 years of my life. thank you for listening for as long as you have, and i hope you can learn to love this one as much as i do.”

Over the past few years, the artist has steadily expanded his reach, selling out shows across North America and Europe while cultivating a growing international audience online.
Fellow artists also flooded the comments section to celebrate the announcement. Filipino singer Ylona Garcia enthusiastically wrote, “Let’s gooooooo,” while “Blue” hitmaker Yung Kai reacted with a hand-heart emoji.
The album reveal comes shortly after another major career milestone for the Fil-Canadian artist. Earlier this year, Mico earned a nomination at the Juno Awards for Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year.
