Filipino American pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo has no hesitation in calling her women-focused music festival, Daisy Chain Fields, a political event, saying she created the gathering to encourage action, community and support for causes affecting women and girls.
“One hundred percent, yes,” Rodrigo said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter when asked if Daisy Chain Fields was political. However, the singer-songwriter emphasized that the festival was not only about advocacy but also about creating a space for celebration.
“But I think it’s also about joy,” she added. “I think the two things can exist at the same time, they kind of have to … I think young people have lost hope in our leaders and lost hope in each other. I really wanted to galvanize people and be evidence of what can happen when you come together and are part of something and contribute.”

Rodrigo’s comments came after Daisy Chain Fields brought together music and activism through a one-day festival in Irvine, California. The event featured an all-female lineup led by Rodrigo.
Beyond the performances, the festival highlighted organizations working to address issues affecting women and children. It donated its net proceeds to nonprofit groups including Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights, Baby2Baby and the Black Mamas Matter Alliance.
Rodrigo said the festival was designed to show how people can come together around causes they believe in, especially when many young people feel disconnected from political institutions and leadership.
The singer also addressed those who may not share the festival’s views, saying that attending the event was ultimately a personal decision.
“Everyone is welcome to come to Daisy Chain. But if you don’t agree with the message that we’re sending, then you don’t have to buy a ticket,” she said.
